| Marina Chair | 2007, Ash, Rubber |
This chair was handcrafted during a summer semester at the Dansk Design School in Copenhagen.
This chair’s frame is a cube, inclined forward and is made out of ash wood. Very straightforward type of construction that I tend to like the most.
The traditional solution for a hammock type chair would be leather or canvas. However, I decided to use something from a different industry. I made the seat out of interlinked rubber pieces that are used on boats to secure sails. These pieces are therefore tough, but also flexible and stretch slightly under a person. These pieces are attached to the chair’s frame without any additional hardware.
